A couple of weeks ago me and my mom thought it would be a good idea to throw 2 bridal showers and 1 baby shower at our house all within one week of each other. It was a little crazy, but a lot of fun. Me and my mom are the perfect party planning duo if I do say so myself! One of my favorite things about party planning is figuring out a theme. This baby shower was for 2 ladies in my family. Sarah and Sarah, one Sarah already had her baby girl, so it was fun to have the baby there. The other Sarah is having a baby boy in a couple weeks, which I am so excited about because he is going to make me an aunt! So I had to think of a theme that would suit a boy and a girl that are not twins. I decided to go with a hot air balloon adventure theme and I am so glad I did!

The invitations:

I found some super cute watercolor hot air balloon graphics here and made a little invitation with them. It said “The adventure starts here, with double the friends and double the fun!” I displayed the invitation in a frame at the party because it matched too well with all the decor!

The decorations:
First let’s talk about this welcome chalkboard. I have been taking an online calligraphy class so it was super fun to put it into effect for this welcome chalkboard!
We had a couple large round balloons left over from another shower so I wanted to think of a way that I could re-use them for this shower as well. I decided to turn them into hot air balloons. We got a large balloon net from the party store then draped it over the top and attached it to a basket at the bottom. Then to jazz it up a bit we tied some ribbons onto the net and put a cute stuffed animal inside! How freaking cute is this?!

I cut out some different shapes out of colored paper and sewed them together to make some hot air balloon garlands that we hung up in different places around the room. Shout out to my neighbor for having a cloud punch! It made all my paper garland dreams come true!

I bought some paper honeycombs at the party store then hot glued some skewers and a basket to the bottom. We hung them up with command strips above the food table. They were too cute we even left them up for a couple days 🙂

The food:
For the food we kept everything pretty simple. We did chicken salad on croissants, some different salads and a few desserts.

The food table
I made these smiling cloud cookies, cause who doesn’t want to eat this little guy?!

The favors:

We thought that it would be cute if we had cotton candy as a take home favor, because they look like clouds. Okay storytime, me and my mom were wondering where we could buy cotton candy in bulk, but we couldn’t find any anywhere so we kind of gave up on this idea. Then, a couple hours before the party my mom was driving around town and there was a little girl selling cotton candy on the side of the road. So she pulled over and told her to make us 30 and put them in little baggies! How perfect is that?! When we got home we added some cloud paper at the top then we added a little tag that read “we’re on cloud nine about these babies!”.

The activities:
For the activities we had did some baby name suggestion and advice cards and we did a baby inspired word scramble! I made the word scramble and I used the same hot air balloon clip art to bring in the theme.
