Well…. It’s Week 6 of the One Room Challenge and we didn’t get our Kitchen Renovation done in time. A kitchen renovation was a little bit of a stretch in 6 weeks. Next time that I participate in the One Room Challenge, I think I will do a room that is a little bit less of a project. To be honest, we couldn’t find anyone to do the back splash in time, then after I knew we weren’t going to finish, I lost a little bit of motivation to really grind to get most of it done before the reveal day.

Here is what it looks like today. We will be finishing up in the next couple weeks, so make sure to check back to see the final reveal. I have been enjoying looking at everyone’s finished projects on the One Room Challenge link up this week. Everyone did amazing transformations! Make sure to check out everyone’s rooms here!

This week we painted our cabinets and did some miscellaneous details around the kitchen. One thing that was discouraging was that the oven that we ordered ended up not fitting into the cabinet that we have for it. We thought we had measured everything, but there is a little drop down on the back of our cook top that was preventing it from going in all the way.

We made an area in our basement where we painted our cabinets. We have an airless paint sprayer that we used for this project. It ended up working really nicely. We would spray them in our little paint booth, then carefully move them to another area where they were held up with cups. It was a little bit of a mess but it worked. I am super pleased with how the finish turned out. It mostly just took a lot of time because we had to do each side of the cabinet twice and wait for the sides to dry in between. We used Benjamin Moore Advance Formula in the color Tranquility for the base cabinets and Chantilly Lace for the white uppers.

Here are some pictures of the cabinets after they are all done and hung.

Make sure to check back to see our kitchen 100% finished! I had so much fun participating in the One Room Challenge. We have a lot of rooms left in our house to renovate, so hopefully next time, I will be able to finish!

It’s looking great! I didn’t finish my room for the challenge either, but I’m still so glad I did it. It was just the kick in the pants that I needed to get started on my pantry. Your cabinet color is gorgeous, by the way. That’s going to be one beautiful kitchen when it’s finished!

I love the paint color you chose for the cabinets. It’s going to look so good when you’re finished.

  4. Well, you did get more completed than us – so congrats! Ha, good luck in finishing everything šŸ™‚
